Wedding Drink Ideas

If you are looking for a way to impress your wedding guests, you can't go wrong with putting a little time and effort into perfecting the best drinks for your sober and non-sober friends. If you're looking for some inspiration, here are some great suggestions for our favorite wedding drinks.

Mojito - This is one of those cocktails that everyone loves but no one really knows how it's made. It's basically a minty rum drink with lime juice. The key ingredient in a mojito is freshly squeezed lime juice.

Margarita - A margarita is a classic cocktail that has been around since the 1930s. It's a tequila-based drink that has a splash of Cointreau or Triple Sec mixed in. There are many different ways to serve a margarita. Some people like to put ice cubes in their glass first before pouring the margarita over top of them. Others prefer frozen margarita. Either way works just fine.

Blood Orange Margaritas - Blood oranges are a very popular citrus fruit these days. They have a unique sweet/tart taste that makes them a wonderful addition to any cocktail. In this recipe, you use blood orange juice instead of regular orange juice. Add a touch of sugar to give the drink a bit more sweetness.

Cosmopolitan - Cosmopolitans are a great alternative to traditional vodka martinis. Instead of using vodka, use cranberry juice. The cranberry juice gives the drink a nice tartness without being too overpowering. To finish off the drink, add an ounce of triple sec. Triple sec adds sweetness which helps balance out the tartness of the cranberry juice.

Pina Colada - Pina coladas are another tropical drink that will be enjoyed by almost anyone. This drink consists of ice, frozen pineapples, pineapple juice, lime juice, cream of coconut, and rum (or no rum). There are many different ways to prepare this drink. Whichever method you choose, you should end up with a delicious pina colada!

Gin & Tonic - Gin and tonic is a classic combination that dates back hundreds of years. It's a simple gin-based drink that is served chilled. The gin is usually poured over ice cubes while the tonic water is poured on top, add a slice of lime, and you’re good to go.

Cranberry Lemonade - Cranberries and lemon are a classic pairing. In this recipe, you'll be making a refreshing, tangy version of lemonade. Freshly squeezed lemon juice is combined with cranberry juice, water, and a dash of sugar. Then the mixture is strained through a cheesecloth to remove any pulp or seeds.

Sangria - Sangrias are traditionally Spanish wine-based cocktails. However, sangria recipes can vary greatly depending on what type of wine is used. Combine red wine along with fresh fruits such as strawberries, peaches, oranges, and cherries. Pour the sangria mix over ice and enjoy!

White Wine Sangria - White wine sangria is a delicious summertime drink that pairs perfectly with light meals like salads or grilled meats. In this recipe, white wine is combined with strawberries, peaches, oranges, and raspberries. Mix the fruit with a pitcher of ice and pour in the wine.

Blueberry Margaritas - Blueberries are a favorite summertime treat. In this recipe, blueberries are combined with lime juice and tequila to create a delicious margarita. If you don't have any blueberries lying around, you can always substitute with frozen berries.

Sparkling Fruit Cocktails - Sparkling fruit drinks are becoming increasingly popular. These fruity drinks are typically served at parties and special events. You can make your own sparkling fruit drinks by combining fresh fruits with soda water. Add a splash of apple cider vinegar to add a slight sour note to the drink.

Lemon Drop Martini - A lemon drop martini is one of our favorites. It combines freshly squeezed lemon juice with dry vermouth and sweet vermouth. The lemon drops are simply maraschino cherry liqueur mixed with club soda.

Mimosa - Mimosas are a French cocktail consisting of champagne and orange juice. They're often served during brunch time. Seltzer water can be substituted for champagne.

Bloody Marys - Bloody Marys are a great way to start off a meal. They're also perfect for entertaining guests since they can be prepared ahead of time and kept cold.

Pomegranate Punch - Pomegranates are a wonderful addition to any party menu. Pomegranate juice is combined with pineapple juice, ginger ale, and grenadine syrup. Garnish with a slice of pomegranate.

Apple Cider - Apple cider is a great beverage option for the fall and winter months. Combine apple cider with cinnamon and nutmeg.

Cranberry Juice Cocktail - Cranberry juice cocktails are a great way to enjoy cranberries during the holiday season. Cranberry juice can be combined with gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup.

Sparkling Grapefruit Soda - Sparkling grapefruit sodas are a delicious treat that can be enjoyed on their own or alongside other drinks. To make this drink, combine fresh grapefruit juice with sparkling mineral water.

Cucumber Mint Cooler - Cucumber mint coolers are a refreshing drink that combines cucumbers, mint leaves, and fresh lime juice. In this recipe, the cucumber juice is combined with club soda.

Final Thoughts

As you can see from the above list, there are plenty of ways to create your own cocktail recipes. You don't need to have expensive liquor or fancy ingredients to come up with some amazing new drinks. All it takes is a little time and creativity!

About Happenings™

Based in Manhattan, Happenings™ founder Tom Noel would often take a walk through Central Park. In 2008, during one of his walks, he stopped to sit at one of his favorite iconic locations in the Park, the Bethesda Fountain. There, Mr. Noel noticed that the intrinsic beauty that surrounded him was not being fully harnessed. He also realized that not a single business provided the exclusiveness of an affordable and high-quality event planner. Determined to change this, Happenings™ was born.
